Community Health & Medicine (Grades 9-12)


How do we address individual and collective healthcare needs? Explore issues of community health through visits to cutting-edge medical facilities and neighborhoods underserved by healthcare resources. Consider the challenges facing families and communities, and work with professionals tackling health education, disease prevention, and issues of equity. Examine contemporary policy debates and learn about ways to address community health issues in our neighborhoods and our nation. During this course, students will:


Gain introductory knowledge about a specific social issue Develop communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills Discover the motivation to become more active citizens


CTD PATHWAY: This is a course for students who want to learn more about the health disparities facing our communities and develop leadership skills to make a difference in an area of interest.


Immigration & Global Affairs (Grades 9-12)


How does immigration policy affect communities? Explore the stories of individuals and communities affected by immigration against the global landscape and our history as a “nation of immigrants.” Engage in hands-on service experiences, and conversations with community members and non-profit and government leaders who are working in the areas of education, employment, and housing. Gain an understanding of the challenges faced by immigrant and refugee families in the U.S. and other parts of the world. During this course, students will:

CTD PATHWAY: This is a course for students who want to learn more about issues of immigration and global affairs and develop leadership skills to make a difference in an area of interest.


AP® Biology (Grades 9-12)


How do we know that something is alive? Science is a process, not an accumulation of facts. Inquiry and investigation are key components of learning about biological systems. Develop both practical and analytical skills by investigating biological phenomena including evolution, cellular processes, and genetics. Collect and analyze data and connecting concepts through hands-on and virtual lab activities. During this course, students will:


Use representations and models to communicate scientific phenomena and solve scientific problems


Engage in scientific questioning to extend thinking or to guide investigations


Perform data analysis and evaluation of evidence


CTD PATHWAY: This course is for students with a passion for biology. It is great preparation for college-level biological sciences.


CTD is in partnership with 1,000+ nonprofit organizations and community leaders. AP® World History (Grades 9-12)


How has the world changed over time? Learn about the world’s history from multiple perspectives and historical analysis. Discover the nature of historical and global processes. Use rigorous online discussions and analytical essays to examine and study the relationship of change and continuity; systems of social structure; cultural, religious and intellectual developments; and the function and structures of states. During this course, students will:


Describe the impact of interaction among major societies


Understand the impact of technology and demography on people and the environment


Compare cultural and intellectual developments and interactions among and within societies


CTD PATHWAY: In this college-level course, students learn to analyze data within a historical viewpoint. This course prepares students to take the AP®


World History exam.
