CTD FACULTY

Nurturing Young Minds

SALMA VHORA has taught courses at Center for Talent Development for over seven years, including Zoology and Brain Surgery. One of her favorite CTD memories took place after a zoology class. She says, “It was incredibly heart- warming when a student’s sibling asked me if I was going to be his teacher next year…it is humbling and inspirational to hear expressions of joy and gratitude.”

Salma is a stay-at-home mom and enjoys volunteering on her school dis- trict’s advisory council. Before coming to the United States, Salma was an En- glish as a Second Language teacher for an International Baccalaureate certified school in the Middle East. She is also a polyglot, meaning she speaks five languages. In advising CTD students, Salma quoted Steve Jobs who said “Stay hungry. Stay foolish,” continuing in her own words, “Keep your heart and mind open to welcoming new learning experiences in life…and your soul will soar high with the stars.”

If I could take a CTD course it would be: Brain Surgery

“I taught this class for Leapfrog in 2016. Each day was a joy and wonder to explore different parts and functions of the brain. Exploring the human brain’s complexity and beauty is like exploring outer space.”
