R. Evonne Jonker 1934 - 2018
David Dahle reports the passing of Evonne Jonker. He writes, “Evonne and her husband Hank stopped by my parents’ place one weekend around 1990 when stores. We stayed in touch for a number of years, even attending a local auction that happened to include over 1,000 unipart porcelain insulators (and a few glass pieces too). They also took me along when they went to the Cedar Rapids National in 1991.
Evonne had a fairly large general collection of both glass and porcelain (of the latter, she had also built up a fairly decent specialty of Lapp insulators), and for a to focus on lightning rod balls. She is survived by her husband Hank, their four children, and their families.’
Larry McClain 1933 - 2016
Larry McClain passed away in his sleep at home insulators.
Larry was a lifelong Lineman and lived in Colorado Springs . He loved collecting insulators and studying them. He was a long time subscriber to the Crown Jewels of the Wire magazine and collected every issue from day one. Larry’s favorite insulator was featured in the Crown Jewels in the October 2004 issue!

Editor’s note: That Insulator of the Month is shown on the right. Larry told us the story when we visited him in 2004. He said that he removed the CD 134 American from a house in Colorado Springs in 1981. He didn’t know what color it was when it took it down because it was covered in several layers of paint. It wasn’t until the paint.
The color is a fabulous yellow olive green. While the insulator has always been a Crown Jewel, it just took time to tell.
