Insulator of the Month The “New” U-180B
Paul Birner writes, “Elton Gish assigned this insulator U-180C in 2014. When Elton’s Collector’s Guide for Porcelain Insulators was published in 2015 with the updated “U-Chart”, the U-180A was deleted as a trimmer variant of the U-180. This resulted in the old U-180B becoming a U-180A; and this insulator then became the new U-180B. Regardless of how it got it’s current number, this is the only reported example!”
“Elton attributes this insulator to the Akron Hi-Potential Porcelain Company (circa 1906). For more information on this insulator, see the Akron and Ohio Brass sections of Elton’s Collector’s Guide.”
