The 3rd generation of Locke bases would be those produced in the years 1900- 1901. To date all the bases that can with certainty be attributed to these two years of production are unglazed and have the same gradual tapering shape as the 1899-1900 Locke factory units just mentioned. These pin bases are universally         marked LOCKE’S PAT head of the steel bolt.

When the Locke factory burned in late December of 1901 it appears all the pin base press molds were destroyed. The fourth generation of Fred Locke bases were produced in all new molds created in 1902 after the new rebuilt factory.   unglazed (white) and often are marked with an incuse Locke hand stamp marking on bottom the base. There is quite a variety of sizes of these bases ranging from very small to rather large. These bases almost always have Fred Locke incuse markings on the bottom. Several distinct markings were used from 1902 to 1904 on Locke’s pin bases. Here are photos of a few of these markings and two groupings of 1902-04 bases:
