Primary position on vessel: Forward of mast, pulpit at start & first position on rail aft of mast. Primary hiking position: Near shrouds calling puffs/wave action Primary responsibility: Safe, efficient operation of the foredeck area, including providing communication to the help regarding what is going on in the front of the boat at all times

Prepare selected jib (or genoa spinnaker) for hauling. Inspect sails, and run sheets/ lines.


Prepare spinnaker pole, sheets and halyards to be used on foredeck


Near shrouds calling puffs/wave action


Clear halyard (look up). Attach new halyard and sheets. Set tack, pre- feed during hoist, then douse old headsail


Tacking – Close Hauled to Reach


Tail clew across boat if needed; Clear skirt of sail foot if needed.


Jibing w/o Spinnaker Ensure sails move across smoothly and quickly. Unhook & secure spinnaker pole to spinnaker.

Docking


Ensure spinnaker can be set with no twists. Band if required.


Pull the lazy sheet to the bow. Trip the spinnaker pole and attach the new guy


Attach sheets, hook up the spinnaker pole and attach guy.


Bring lazy sheet forward on spinnaker pole side


Bring spinnaker down properly- Do not let it go overboard


Hoist new spinnaker-Ensure no twists in the halyard


Prepare for spinnaker set or jib hoist


Communicate traffic to helm and steering instructions


Stow spinnaker pole, coil and secure sheets


Secondary Job Responsibility Assist with leaving the dock


Assist with dock lines Advise skipper of traffic


Help pack and stack old jib on deck


Assist with jib cars/clear sheets if needed


Attach preventer at foredeck if called for


Double check that spinnaker has been properly packed and is ready for hoisting


Bringing the spinnaker pole to the new side


Attach spinnaker and hoist correctly


Attach new sheet and trip spinnaker when directed


Raise headsail and trip the guy


Attach new sheets. Attach new clew onto spinnaker pole
