Primary Job Responsibility


Take sail cover off and check battens and tell tails. Ensure the mainsail is ready


Assist with stowing dock lines and fenders


Hike when trimming and not required near mainsail trim


Concentrate on mainsail trim of existing head sail prior to hoist. Keep boat speed up


Proper sail trim


Jibing w/o Spinnaker Proper sail trim. Ensure the main and boom cross the cockpit in a controlled manner


Spinnaker Prep/Hoist Spinnaker Set Spinnaker Jibe


Maintain proper mainsail trim Maintain proper mainsail trim


Ensure main and boom cross the cockpit in a safe, controlled manner.

Starts Docking Reefing


Maintain proper mainsail trim Maintain proper mainsail trim Assist as required


Maintain proper sail trim by easing traveler/mainsheet for proper reach/ downwind trim

Ensure the main is lowered, secured and that the sail cover is replaced


Ease the mainsheet ensuring the main is slack and able to be reefed. Once the reefed tack is made , sheet in the mainsheet for maximum sail trim


Secondary Job Responsibility Inspect the mainsail


Help remove and stow fenders Safely secure in the boat Assist as requested with new sail


Proper sail trim and traveler adjustment per helsman’s steering needs.


Trim the sheet to ensure a controlled maneuver

Maintain proper mainsail trim and ensure all lines are clear. Warn all personnel in area to be clear of the boom swing.
