A life of Essentials Only begins here
UK-based subscription service TAKK recently launched with a range of essential bathroom products. It isn’t stopping there — it plans to bring out a host of other everyday products
TAKK developed its Essentials Only formulations in collaboration with product experts with one key principle in mind: to keep the products honed to their bare essentials — avoiding all marketing tricks and gimmicks. All of its range is manufactured in
the UK, and once you subscribe, prod- ucts are delivered to your door when you need them. T e founder of TAKK, Pinar Akiskalioglu, and her director for sourcing, Patrick Joseph, have both worked in the industry for many years prior to the founding of TAKK. T ey realised that the sheer variety of products currently on the market isn’t justifi ed. So TAKK decided to off er one winning, cruelty-free and vegan formula for all of its portfolio of prod- ucts. As its expert dentist, Matthew Lloyd from CosmoLab, says: “You look at some of the products that are available — the kind of fast-moving consumer goods that are priced quite low — and the quality of them isn’t always great, so we saw an oppor- tunity to develop products that are still price-conscious, but with better formulations.” TAKK believes that this simplicity
will give subscribers a better choice in the current marketplace. What is important is how the ingredients are sourced and the ecosystem behind it, and this is what TAKK focuses on. Because TAKK and all

footprint of its distribution network — another key factor in maintaining the vision of a company based entirely in the UK and working together with local communities. T is has become an even stronger conviction for the company during the current coro- navirus crisis, with TAKK making every eff ort possible to support these communities. unnecessary distribution waste, and even though it was a challenge to fi nd the right partners, she’s delighted that TAKK has been able to serve as an exemplar of this philosophy. TAKK has also found strong support
with its dedicated logistics company, Diamond Logistics, which is run by Kate Lester. T e company has been extremely supportive and under- standing during the coronavirus crisis. It has taken every precaution possible, and its team is working hard to fulfi l the TAKK promise to its clients by delivering all of the essential products to it on time and in a safe manner.
T e idea for TAKK was fi rst dreamed
up when the founder, Pinar, was a student at Harvard Business School, and it was later incubated while she was a graduate student at the Said Business School at the University of Oxford. T is gave Pinar the chance to test her vision for an ‘essentials only’ company with some of the best busi- ness minds from around the world. It served to strengthen her conviction that the company needed to provide more than just the essentials in its products — not just in the way that they’re made, but also in the philos- ophy behind the company itself. TAKK wants to challenge the status
quo by off ering customers a chance to simplify their lives, beginning with bathroom essentials, only when they need them.
