PAID CONTENT FOR GRAND HOTEL ET DES PALMES

Grand Hotel et Des Palmes PALERMO, ITALY

Grand Hotel et Des Palmes is a luxury hotel in the heart of Sicily’s capital, featuring a rich history. The palace that now houses the hotel has been at the centre of an architectural project that has spanned two centuries. Established as the residence of English cleric Sir Benjamin Ingham, who chose the Sicilian capital as his family’s nest, the palace was originally located outside the city walls and was completely surrounded by a lush garden, which featured exotic palm trees that still characterise the facade and from which the hotel’s name was inspired. It was turned into a luxurious and chic hotel in

1874 under the direction of architect Ernesto Basile, who added stylish art nouveau flourishes to the interior. The hotel reopened its doors in 2021 after two years of renovations that restored the building to its former glory. Guests will be dazzled by the art nouveau

adornments and furnishings that have been carefully designed down to the smallest detail. The original stained-glass windows provide a playful contrast with the intricate design of the ceiling

in the impressive lobby, while the rooms feature decorations and furnishing in a palette of burnished gold and ragusa green, along with plush seating in deep green and burgundy velvet. Guests will find the Sala degli Specchi (Hall

of Mirrors) inside the former ballroom, which now houses the sumptuous Sensus Mixology Bar and Neobistrot Restaurant. Offering diners an exclusive and refined culinary journey, Neobistrot combines tradition and contemporary gourmet influences, transporting visitors into a new dimension of sophistication. The heart of the great hall, the Sensus Mixology Bar is a mecca for gin enthusiasts, with its selection of more than 100 labels and a cocktail menu designed and curated by experienced local mixologists. The hotel’s rooftop terrace overlooks the historic

centre of Palermo and is home to the Ouverture Terrace Restaurant, where guests can enjoy a refined mix of sushi and Italian dishes, accompanied by views of the city’s rooftops. On the sixth floor is the spacious gym, equipped with the latest cardio and fitness training equipment.

DON’T MISS Explore Palermo accompanied by an experienced local guide who’ll take you on a discovery of the historic city centre
