Fond Doux Eco Resort SOUFRIÈRE, ST LUCIA
Fond Doux Eco Resort is a sustainable Green Globe Platinum Organic Estate in Soufrière, St Lucia, which is locally owned, managed and staffed. The resort is located in a 250-year-old traditional working cocoa plantation that features 19 eco-luxury cottages nestled into a 135-acre estate, surrounded by a lush rainforest landscape and tropical gardens. 2023 World Travel Awards, Fond Doux preserves St Lucia’s architectural heritage by saving abandoned colonial buildings from around the island and restoring them as guest accommodation. As part of its eco-mandate, the furniture and paintings used in the cottages are handcrafted locally. Bamboo Restaurant makes use of fresh fruits,
vegetables and spices that are organically grown on the plantation to create authentic, delicious Creole dishes. Meanwhile, the Creole Pot Restaurant offers buffet-style culinary cuisine for wedding receptions, seminars and other private functions and events.
The resort also consists of a gym, a three-tier
cascading pool, a library of international books, a crafts shop showcasing a wide variety of local arts and crafts, a ‘Circle of Love’ wedding gazebo and the Plas Cacao Chocolate shop. The resort is conveniently located just minutes
away from the town of Soufrière, which is St Lucia’s main tourist attraction and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From Soufrière, you can drive to the Pitons, Tet Paul Nature Trail, Sulphur Springs Park — the Caribbean’s only ‘drive in volcano’ — and the best diving sites on the island. Fond Doux has also opened its first ever
historical park — the first of its kind in Soufrière and the entire west coast. The park features an 18th-century French fortress, a shrine, nature trails, picnic areas and an interpretation centre. Other on-site excursions on offer include chocolate making, a Taste of Fond Doux experience, cocktail-making, a traditional St Lucian cooking class and the Petit Piton trail.
