PAID CONTENT FOR THE LIGHTHOUSE HOTEL & SPA

The Lighthouse Hotel & Spa LITTLE CORN ISLAND, NICARAGUA

The Lighthouse Hotel & Spa is located 50 miles off the east coast of Nicaragua, perched atop a hill on Little Corn Island. Guests must arrive by boat as there are no airports or motorised vehicles on the island. Thanks to its seven renovated cabañas, restaurant and bar, yoga decks, spa and tropical gardens, it’s a laid back, adults-only sanctuary. The essence of the property is shaped by its

owners, two sisters who left their corporate lives in Canada in pursuit of a lifestyle centred around yoga and wellness practises; a lifestyle they seek to share with travellers in search of the same. Each of the rustic wooden accommodation cabañas is themed around a different chakra, offering guests a haven to suit their individual needs. Dining at the hotel is a celebration of the island’s

natural bounty. The open-air restaurant and bar, which offers a menu rich in Caribbean flavours, is surrounded by lush greenery and has views of the sea. Its chefs employ a farm-to-table approach that supports sustainable practices. Dishes are crafted using locally sourced ingredients, such as fresh fruit and vegetables from the island’s gardens and the

day’s catch from the surrounding waters. Guests can indulge in treatments or relax in one

of the serene yoga and meditation spaces at the Nirvana Wellness Spa. The Take Me to Paradise Chocolate Retreat is a popular ritual. Guests start the morning with French toast made with fresh coconut bread served with caramelized tropical fruit before enjoying a 60-minute chocolate massage. The treatment uses 100% pure Nicaraguan cocoa known for being high in antioxidants. Wellness enthusiasts and retreat leaders seeking a laid-back paradise to bring their group will experience a respite from the fast-paced world here. Thrill-seekers can go snorkelling, try fishing or

go on a beach tour of the island. Alternatively, those who head out on a boat excursion might be lucky enough to spot a whale shark. The Lighthouse Hotel & Spa is the perfect spot

for those who want to spend their getaway lounging under swaying palm trees, drinking from coconuts and floating in a tranquil sea. While wi-fi is available during parts of the day in certain locations, guests can truly switch off from the outside world here.

DON’T MISS The Take Me To Paradise Chocolate Retreat includes brunch and a massage with local Nicaraguan cocoa
