Mandrare River in southeastern Madagascar, offers an intimate, sustainable safari experience. With just nine exclusive tents, each offering stunning views of the river and surrounding forests, this camp is perfect for those seeking serenity and adventure. Guests can explore the Gallery Forest, home to playful ring-tailed lemurs and the acrobatic Verreaux’s sifaka, or wander through the Spiny Forest searching for mouse lemurs and chameleons among the branches of the unique octopus trees — found only in this part of Madagascar. The camp’s birdwatching opportunities are exceptional, with species like the malachite kingfisher and painted-snipe frequently spotted in the nearby wetlands. Namoroka Tsingy Camp, located in the remote
northwestern region of Madagascar, brings guests face to face with the island’s Tsingy formations.
This labyrinth of razor-sharp limestone pinnacles is surrounded by dry forests and bamboo groves. Namoroka is a haven for wildlife. Guests may
spot 10 species of lemurs, including the rare aye- aye lemurs; the Von der Decken’s sifaka; the fossa, Madagascar’s only apex predator; and endangered flying foxes with a wingspan of over five feet. The forests are home to vibrant birdlife, and the natural pools provide a scenic backdrop for a picnic. For cultural immersion, a visit to the Sakalava
villages gives guests an opportunity to experience the traditions of the region’s Indigenous people. The village walk offers insights into the vibrant culture and life of the local communities. Both camps are committed to conservation and
sustainability. Namoroka Tsingy Camp partners with Wildlife Madagascar to preserve the park’s ecosystem, conducting critical research and habitat restoration projects, including reconnecting forest corridors and studying newly discovered species. Mandrare River Camp focuses on responsible tourism, ensuring that every adventure contributes to the protection of this extraordinary landscape.
