Set on Leblon Beach, one of Rio de Janeiro’s most authentic and vibrant neighbourhoods, Janeiro Hotel translates the Carioca lifestyle into an experience that blends design, nature and urban culture. Opened in 2018 by artist and designer Oskar Metsavaht, the hotel embodies the concept of natural minimalism — combining sustainable materials, abundant natural light and a soft colour palette. Among its most striking elements are the spiral staircase, a nod to Brazilian modernism, and the Óculo — the round window at the pool that overlooks the peak of Morro Dois Irmãos, making the connection between design and landscape. Janeiro combines comfort and aesthetics in


every detail of its 51 rooms. Sustainable freijó wood furnishings, natural fibres and artworks by Metsavaht himself interact with the scenery. Each space reflects the hotel’s philosophy: valuing elegant simplicity in harmony with Rio’s energy. On the 18th and 19th floors, The Little Pool and the Varanda offer panoramic views of Leblon, Ipanema, Christ the Redeemer and Arpoador — scenes that make the stay unique from sunrise to sunset.

experience, with attention to quality, seasonality and support for local suppliers. Cedilha Bar & Restaurant combines classic dishes, signature cocktails and wines from small producers. Meanwhile, Janeiro Restaurante highlights fresh, regional ingredients, offering Brazilian culinary traditions through a contemporary lens. Sustainability is expressed through gestures that
