Visit Chișinău CHIȘINĂU, MOLDOVA
Nestled in the heart of Eastern Europe, Chișinău — the capital of the Republic of Moldova — comes alive each July with a vibrant summer celebration: Te salut, Chișinău! This lively three-day festival honours the city’s cultural identity, creative spirit and renowned hospitality. Launched in 2021, the festival has rapidly
become a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar. By 2025, it was drawing tens of thousands of visitors, from across Europe and beyond. Centred around the charming Eugen Doga
Pedestrian Street — one of Chișinău’s historic promenades — the festival transforms the city into a colourful open-air stage for music, art, food and community. Across town, both locals and tourists enjoy live concerts, folk parades, artisan markets and creative workshops. Interactive zones cater to all ages, while food and wine areas serve up traditional Moldovan cuisine paired with tastings from the country’s acclaimed wineries. At the heart of the celebration is the iconic
Hora Chișinăului, a traditional folk dance that’s symbolised unity and civic pride for over a century.
The festival’s programme is delightfully diverse, blending classical, jazz, folk, electronic and pop music with street performances and visual arts. The result is a rich cultural tapestry that captures the essence of Moldova’s capital. Held annually around 17 July, the event
coincides with the historical date of Chișinău’s first recorded mention in 1436, a fact documented in a manuscript preserved in Warsaw’s Central Archives of Historical Records. Te salut, Chișinău! is more than a tribute to the
city’s origins, it’s a reflection of its modern status: a European capital deeply rooted in history, yet open to creativity and change. In 2026, the festival will celebrate a major milestone — 590 years since Chișinău’s first appearance in written records. For international travellers, the festival offers
a perfect introduction to Chișinău’s understated charm: leafy boulevards, neoclassical architecture, welcoming cafes, stylish vinotheques and a warm, multilingual population. Highlights nearby include the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Museum of Art and Central Park.
