PAID CONTENT FOR CASSIA COTTAGE

Cassia Cottage PHU QUOC, VIETNAM

Time slows at Cassia Cottage, where the rhythm of ocean waves sets the pace. This retreat doesn’t compete for attention — it welcomes guests into its quiet embrace. The moment visitors arrive, a deep sense of peace settles in. The sea breeze carries the scent of salt and sun-warmed earth, while trees filter dappled light onto winding garden paths. There’s no rush. No televisions, no distractions — just the quiet luxury of space, time and nature. Once the island home of a spice trader, Cassia

Cottage has grown into a retreat shaped by history and craftsmanship. Built from mahogany, oak and walnut wood, the main house reflects an era when beauty lay in the details. Vaulted ceilings, reminiscent of the Vietnamese emperor’s court, invite the air to move freely, while French colonial influences lend an understated elegance. Over the centuries, the land has passed through only two families, and any changes have been made with respect — an evolution rather than an overhaul. Nature takes the lead here. Gardens flourish,

untouched by pesticides, nurtured with care rather than chemicals. Even the smallest details honour

this philosophy — snails are managed by hand, not poison. The pools, seamlessly integrated into the landscape, mirror the shifting sky, while a private road ensures seclusion. Well-being at Cassia Cottage feels effortless.

A wooden pavilion, which is open, light and airy, hosts sunrise and sunset yoga, while the pools and gardens become settings for specialised physical therapies. Traditional Vietnamese and Thai massage, performed by skilled hands, soothes both body and mind, connecting guests to centuries-old healing traditions. Dining here is a slow and thoughtful affair. Meals

are crafted without shortcuts, allowing the island’s bounty to shine. Fresh seafood, locally sourced produce and fragrant herbs from the garden come together in dishes that celebrate both Vietnamese tradition and Western influences. Guests can dine on a quiet verandah overlooking the sea or take part in a cooking class to uncover the artistry behind each dish. And once a week, the owner’s drinks reception offers a warm invitation to share stories, laughter and a sense of belonging.

DON’T MISS Try yoga in a pavilion surrounded by abundant gardens — a serene experience with no distractions
