PAID CONTENT FOR FOND DOUX ECO RESORT

Fond Doux Eco Resort ETANGS, SAINT LUCIA

Fond Doux Eco Resort is a sustainable Green Globe Platinum Organic Estate located in Soufrière, St Lucia. It’s locally owned, managed and staffed. The resort is situated on a 250-year-old traditional working agricultural plantation within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Soufrière. Accommodation is offered in one- and two-bed,

air-conditioned cottages, eight of which have their own private plunge pools. Each cottage is designed in a chic, rustic style, uniquely decorated with warm wood floors, charming rattan furnishings and beamed, vaulted ceilings that evoke the resort’s colonial heritage. The resort has recently added three courtyard patio suites. These suites have walk-in showers, internet, cable TV and safes. The onsite 5Fingers Restaurant uses organically

grown fruits, vegetables and spices from the plantation to create authentic Caribbean cuisine. The resort also offers a variety of facilities, including a gym, two pools — the Trois Basain cascading pool and the Basain Coco swimming pool — a library, crafts shop, spa, ‘Circle of Love’ wedding gazebo and the Plas Cacao chocolate shop.

Unique experiences await guests at Fond

Doux Eco Resort, from chocolate-making and traditional St Lucian cooking classes to the ‘Taste of Fond Doux’ experience, cocktail-making sessions and the Petit Piton View trail. The resort is conveniently located just minutes from the town of Soufrière, which is St Lucia’s main tourist hub and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From Soufrière, guests can easily access the Pitons, Tet Paul Nature Trail, Sulphur Springs Park (the Caribbean’s only drive-in volcano) and some of the region’s best diving sites. Awarded the titles of Caribbean’s Leading Green

Resort and Saint Lucia’s Leading Green Resort at the 2024 World Travel Awards, Fond Doux not only preserves St Lucia’s architectural heritage, but also the history of the famous Battle of Rabot, which took place in 1795 in the area now known as the Fond Doux Historical Park. The park features an 18th-century French fortress, a shrine, nature trails, picnic areas and an interpretation centre — the first of its kind in Soufrière and along the entire west coast.
