PAID CONTENT FOR FARMHOUSE SMILING GECKO

Farmhouse Smiling Gecko CAMBODIA

Farmhouse Smiling Gecko is located in rural Cambodia between emerald rice fields, about 40 miles from Phnom Penh. The striking stilt houses and bungalows are built in the traditional Cambodian architectural style and fit perfectly into the lush, green surroundings. The sustainable resort aims to combine country living with modern luxury, forming part of the NGO Smiling Gecko, which is committed to educating and helping street children in Cambodia. The farmhouse enables more than 60

employees to have a secure job with humane working conditions and fair income, while the organisation’s long-term aim is to build an economically independent and self-sufficient community through the farms and the hotel. Farmhouse Smiling Gecko is a responsible hotel that contributes to environmental protection without neglecting comfort and luxury and is a proud member of Green Pearls Unique Places. Guests who want to venture beyond the beauty

and privacy of the farmhouse can experience the true Cambodia up close with guides. A guided

tour of the large Smiling Gecko grounds is included for every guest during their stay, as well as an excursion to a 500-year-old monastery with breathtaking views of the landscape. On another tour, visitors are taken to a textile factory near Phnom Penh, where they can witness local living and working conditions. The Farmhouse provides 34 stylishly furnished

rooms in bungalows and stilt houses with plenty of terraces and outdoor areas. An expansive wellness area offers massages, meditation and yoga retreats, while the stylish wooden deck with its large outdoor pool and loungers is the perfect place to unwind. The kitchen is run by Mariya Un Noun, who

received her training through the Smiling Gecko project. Since the opening of the restaurant in 2015, Mariya has played a crucial role in the development of the menu. She interprets local specialities and creates wonderful Nouvelle Khmer cuisine. Recently, she’s been endorsed by top chef Andreas Caminada, who was greatly impressed by her talent.

Don’t miss The chance to relax with a gentle session of yoga before a spot of meditation, all in the beautiful surroundings of the resort’s yoga shala
