The Burrows is a collection of three hobbit- style retreats, nestled naturally in the sweeping hillsides of a 300-acre family farm in the middle of Wales. The three cottages are far enough apart to afford total privacy, while being just a short stroll away if booked together. The Burrow is colourful and elegant, with
a copper bathtub in the main bedroom, hot tub outside and a stream at the end of the garden. The spot is beautiful and tranquil, with the option of throwing open the folding doors and making the broad patio an extension of the chic lounge. The Warren is a turf-roofed, glass-fronted
palace designed for indulgent relaxation with a circular bath and big sofas, wild shower inside and the occasional curious sheep outside. The Nest is a luxurious cottage offering
uninterrupted views of the Powys hills. From its handmade wooden kitchen to two outside baths with hill views, the sense of understated luxury extends from the cottage to its surroundings — open up the bifold doors to allow the inside to merge with the outside.
Wander out to sit by the firepits, take a dip in
the hot tubs or head down to the stream to set up lunch on the picnic bench. With the Elan Valley Dark Sky Park just around the corner, you’ll be treated to incredible starscapes on clear nights and if you’re quiet you might encounter all kinds of wildlife. Badgers, foxes and deer all live in the area, and there’s a huge amount of birdlife, especially surrounding the large pond, which is home to some elusive otters. The sheep, slightly less elusive, may come and peer through the picture windows from time to time. The Burrows is located in Bleddfa, a hamlet
hidden away in the depths of the Radnorshire hills and just a mile away from the 3,000-acre Radnor Forest. Trails lead off right from the door and
crisscross the countryside for miles. There are some great day trips available if you can tear yourself away from your immediate surroundings, from castle ruins and the Knighton observatory to riding stables and a kite-feeding station.
