Tschuggen Hotel Group SWITZERLAND
From breathtaking mountain landscapes to the sparkling Lake Maggiore on the Italian border, the Tschuggen Hotel Group enchants guests with its selection of four hotels in Switzerland’s most scenic locations
The Tschuggen Hotel Group is dedicated to helping guests rediscover the value of their time. It’s about more than just extravagance and luxury: it’s about personal and mental wellbeing. Enter Moving Mountains, the group’s visionary
new wellbeing concept for its hotels in Arosa, St Moritz and Ascona. Moving Mountains invites guests to get back in touch with nature, fun and joy for living. It combines five pillars — MOVE, PLAY, NOURISH, REST and GIVE — whereby guests are invited to select elements from each to create their own personal wellbeing experience. Knowledgeable experts and advisors are on hand to prepare guests for their activities in nature. As part of the MOVE pillar, tailor-made
individual or small-group courses are held outdoors or at the hotels’ fitness studios to restore visitors’ vitality. A sophisticated yoga programme invites visitors to join guided retreats, participate in face-to-face classes in the hotel grounds or enjoy yoga in their rooms. The PLAY pillar — which lies at the heart of the Moving Mountains concept

— invites guests to engage in playful discovery through two main ways. ‘Curated Adventures’ afford guests an authentic experience of the surrounding region by introducing them to local craftspeople and producers, such as meeting a winemaker on a historical tour of the Locarno District or indulging in a spot of shinrin-yoku (Japanese-style forest bathing). For active days, ‘Empowering Expeditions’ give guests the opportunity to push themselves to their physical limits or learn new skills. Imagine starting the day with a refreshing swim
in a mountain lake or a tandem paragliding flight. Of course, making the most of these adventures requires the right fuel. During their stay, mountain-movers can indulge in the creations of first-class chefs and delicious plant-based menus devised specially for the programme. The NOURISH pillar is built on principles in line with cutting-edge findings from nutritional science. As part of this, the group sought expert help from a noted naturopath and nutritionist.
Rejuvenation also requires proper rest and
quality sleep. This element of the programme can be experienced in the form of two signature treatments in the award-winning spas. In collaboration with Organic Pharmacy and inspired by nature, the Tschuggen Hotel Group has developed two original, 100% organic treatments for maximum relaxation and revitalisation. Aromatherapy remedies are provided in rooms alongside special teas and refreshments to help guests get a dreamy night’s sleep. Enjoy them with a spot of yoga as you wind down. To provide a truly holistic experience of REST, a ‘dream butler’ is also on hand to create the perfect environment for restorative sleep. In tribute to the ceaseless cycles of nature, the
final pillar of Moving Mountains is GIVE, which involves supporting local projects, foundations, art and sports. Each of the hotels participating in the Moving
Mountains programme is characterised by individuality and personal guest experiences.
The first of these, the Carlton Hotel, is a five-star
hotel in St Moritz open from December to March. The Carlton is at once a private idyll and a stone’s throw from all the action. It’s both an ideal base for exploring the natural beauty of the Upper Engadine valley and a dreamy retreat after a day on the slopes. Guests can eat on the sunny terrace of Bel Etage restaurant, and drink cocktails in front of the crackling fireplace. The hotel has just 60 rooms and suites, giving it the feel of a true private haven. The Carlton Hotel also boasts the Restaurant Romanoff and the two-Michelin- star Da Vittorio St Moritz. The in-house spa has an indoor and outdoor pool, gm, sauna and extensive menu of treatments. Meanwhile, The Tschuggen Grand Hotel in
Arosa, which also boasts a five-star rating, has four restaurants, a spa lounge, a cigar lounge and its own bowling alley, the Grand Hotel is a destination in itself. Those on skiing holidays can exit the hotel directly onto its very own mountain railway. Multiple swimming pools, a Kneipp zone, sauna complex, treatment rooms, spa
suites, a fitness centre, medical wellness facilities, hairdresser and an extensive menu of massage and facial treatments await. The Valsana Hotel in Arosa is a getaway of a
different kind. This four-star hotel is designed with a sustainable luxury theme and offers indulgence with a contemporary, conscious flavour. In the Twist restaurant and bar, dishes range from Swiss beef tartare and superfood bowls to delicious Thai red curry. The wellness area has a gm as well as places to relax. At the heart of the hotel lies an innovative ice storage system that provides heat for the entire building. The Hotel Eden Roc is nestled on the shores of
Lake Maggiore and is Switzerland’s only beach resort. It has 58 rooms and 37 suites, plus four restaurants and two bars. The in-house spa has indoor and outdoor pools and a Kneipp path with stones from the nearby Maggia river. The highlight, however, is the expansive garden, which extends right down to the waterfront and joins onto a harbour and watersports school, where the hotel’s motor yachts and sailing boat are moored.
