In an ever-shrinking world, where does one go to feel like a true adventurer? For me, the quest for a path less trodden led to Ladakh. High in the Himalayas in northern India, I found a place I thought existed only in fairytales: a silencing moonscape of silver rock and dusty plains, with a community of Buddhist monks keen to share words of ancient wisdom with travellers passing through (p16). Finding new frontiers means something diff erent for everyone — but, for me, learning about the power of solitude among a sea of serrated peaks truly encapsulates adventure travel. And this desire to go off -grid is a growing trend. More and more, well-heeled


travellers are opting for far-fl ung destinations to push their boundaries and broaden their horizons. From Ladakh to Kerala, in this issue we take a deep dive into India (p8).
