If you’re after a unique experience in a breathtaking place where few others have travelled before, this is your chance
T vegetation. Tis primeval
he Bwindi Impenetrable Forest spans much of southwest Uganda like a lush carpet of forest
is
one of the most biodiverse places in the world — and home to more than half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population. As the ancestral land of the Batwa people, it’s a place with a rich and ancient culture that’s deeply connected to the natural surroundings. Constructed in harmony with the
local people and the landscape, Asilia Africa’s new Erebero Hills sustain- able, luxury lodge will be welcoming its first guests in 2026. If you’re after a unique experience in a breathtaking place where few others have travelled before, this is your chance.
More green than you’ve ever seen East Africa is currently in its green season. From under the incredibly thick, ancient canopy of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, mists swirl and
life bubbles from the mossy under- growth. While you’re out seeking a chance encounter with the distin- guished mountain gorilla, listen out for the call of the great blue turaco and countless other wildlife in this stunning haven of biodiversity. Erebero Hills
is located on the
northern side of the forest and has a choice of accessing two trekking locations. Ruhija trekking point is the closest — a 30-minute drive from the lodge. Alternatively, Buhoma is approximately an hour’s drive away. Both points allow guests proximity to start trekking early in the day.
Feel closer to the forest With the support of the local Batwa and Bakiga people, Asilia Africa and Change a Life Bwindi have reforested 45 acres of land in a buffer zone around the existing Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. On this perfectly perched piece of land sits the new Erebero Hills bamboo lodge.
A syntropic food farm planted at
the lodge will grow many of the fruits and vegetables that will form part of the all-inclusive menu and luxury service offering.
Grounded, golden bamboo Pablo Luna Studio architects have used specialised sustainable bamboo to create this unique and exciting build. Te bamboo starts green from sustainable, local plantations. It gets bent, shaped and woven into place and yellows into a deep bamboo gold colour as it settles. Te result
is a
unique construction with a staggering ability to reflect the curves and waves of the surrounding hills. Te building — the first of its kind
in Uganda — has even attracted the attention of the gorillas, who have stopped by to admire the structure — and most likely to grab a few pieces of fresh bamboo, since it’s some of their favourite, naturally occurring food.
The blush of the bush Tough stunning at any time of day, not to be missed are the sunsets and sunrises from Erebero Hills lodge. Settled on the top of the ridge so
you can sit in your hot tub or enjoy a refreshment on the deck while you gaze upon the unbelievable display of colours of the African sky — from rich, rosy pinks and oranges to bright purple hues.
The colours of a culture When you’re not exploring the forest and seeking out gorillas, enjoy the rich culture of the area with Batwa community tours, where you can experience weaving, traditional fabric dying, beadwork, candle- making and more. Speak to your Asilia agent for a personalised tour itinerary and discover the best of this unique part of the world.
