Learning at Concord College – academic & international excellence

At first glance, Concord College in Shropshire is everything you might expect from a leading British inde- pendent school. A beautiful campus, with sports pitches and a central Georgian mansion surrounded by state-of-the-art modern facilities and a historic castle in the background.

A CLOSER LOOK REVEALS SOMETHING SLIGHTLY BE- YOND THE ORDINARY Concord is a British boarding school with a difference. Students here come from all around the world to study and learn together. Tere are currently 44 nationalities among the students, including British, of course. As a result, sharing perspec- tives and cultures is as much a part of Concord’s success as exams. Founded after the Second World

War, educationalist Frank Bell was instrumental

in developing the

school’s mission to allow students from different countries and cul- tures to be educated alongside each other. Te welcoming culture of the college persists today and, if any- thing, is stronger for the breadth of the community. Students accept and appreciate their differences as well as their many similarities. Concord has an exceptional aca-

demic track record. Working with academically able students and help- ing them to flourish is at the heart of the school. Small class sizes combine with excellent teachers and a culture of helping one another to deliver not only exceptional results, but happy and confident students. Te A-level re- sults last year included 82% of grades that were A* or A and over two-thirds of A-level students achieved three As or higher. For younger students, near- ly 90% of GCSE results were grades 7-9 last year. Te uniquely calm and respectful likened by some to a

miniature university campus, gives pupils the environment to thrive and, with no school uniform, the college sets out its belief that each individual has something unique to bring to the community as well as a responsibility to make thoughtful decisions. Boarding at Concord is all in sin-

gle study bedrooms set in comfort- able boarding houses that provide a home from home.

CONCORD’S EVENTS & CURRICULUM Beyond the curriculum a host of over 100 clubs and societies sup- ports students in pursuit of their dreams, be that a future career or learning a new hobby. From orches- tras and choirs to football and pick- leball, the range of options follows student interest. On leaving Concord students head

to top universities in the UK and globally, often securing places on competitive courses such as Med- icine and Architecture. Concord’s comprehensive student futures pro- gramme combines with a broad su- per-curricular programme to help students develop their academic passions and careers interests in greater depth. In 2025, 12 students went on to study at Oxford or Cam- bridge, more than 60 went on to study at world top 10 universities

and 30 went on to study medicine, dentistry or veterinary courses. Tey take with them not only grades and certificates, but a sense that they can make a difference in the world. All of which has led to Concord

being ranked highly both in results tables and world schools rankings. Concord has been one of the World’s top schools according to both Spear’s Schools Index of the 100 leading pri- vate schools in the world and the HSBC Hurun Education Global High Schools lists for the last two years.
