big welcome to the winter edition of Summit, packed full of chilly adventures to inspire you to get


outside. Some of my most memorable mountain days have been in winter, so don’t bury yourself away this season – get out there, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re short on winter skills, then our BMC TV films, clubs, national centres and guides will all help you get started.


I’m just back from watching our GB Climbing Team and GB Paraclimbing Team in action at the World Cup competition in Edinburgh, and was truly inspired. It was great to see our talent competing against some of the best of the world – and they can hold their heads up high.


As you read this, the results from the independent Organisational Review of the BMC are available to download. It’ll be really interesting to see what the conclusion is following the members’ survey and focus groups. Hopefully there will be some positive discussion on the proposals at the forthcoming area meetings and a solid way forward for the BMC will be arrived at. Turn to page 12 to get involved.


Anyway, must dash to sort my winter kit!
