MOUNTAIN TRAINING
Becoming a member also opens the door to the Mountain Training qualification schemes. If you’re feeling inspired and your dream is to lead groups in the outdoors, coach climbing at your local wall, or take people into the mountains of the world, there’s no better first step than joining us and registering for a scheme. As a BMC member, Combined Liability insurance is provided when instructing as a volunteer and logging experience during the consolidation period between your training and assessment courses for a Mountain Training qualification:

HUTS £15 million Combined Liability insurance
We ensure that you’re insured in the wilderness. Did you know that as part of your membership package, the BMC provides £15 million Combined Liability insurance for club and individual members and £10,000 Personal Accident cover for individual members? This peace of mind is a key benefit of BMC membership.
BMC Travel Insurance
For the wanderers and thrill seekers, there’s access to the BMC’s wide-ranging insurance cover for travellers, trekkers, hill walkers, climbers, mountaineers and skiers. Discounts are available for couples and families with children, but only for BMC members:

We also provide access to specialist life insurance, mortgage protection, and income protection, exclusively for our members. Cover without loading is available from our partners Summit Financial Services.
NOTES
Combined Liability Protection is applicable worldwide, subject to the exclusion of any legal action brought against the insured in a court of Law within the USA/Canada.
These benefits only apply when involved in BMC insured activities, such as mountaineering, climbing, walking and abseiling.
Proof of status is required for U18s, full-time students and the unemployed.
For those living outside the UK there is an additional postal charge of £20 for each magazine subscription and £10 for Summit.
Club members are eligible for upgrading to full BMC membership at the reduced price of £15.20. Additional benefits include getting all four issues of Summit, a membership card, and Personal Accident insurance.
With around 70 club huts in prime walking and climbing locations across the UK, BMC members can bunk down in spectacular and historic places – all at a great price. Most huts are managed by clubs, a handful of national huts are managed by the BMC and Mountaineering Scotland and many are available for use by our members.

Looking for something to do? We’ve got plenty to keep you busy: from parties to pub nights, skills lectures to climbing competitions, BMC TV sessions to skills courses, we run a range of events that are all discounted – and sometimes exclusive – to BMC members.
