BMC CLUBS CLUB MEMBER TRAINING Learn the skills to lead your club with these BMC courses Club Workshops
The BMC Clubs’ Committee organises a series of training courses for BMC club members including courses such as first aid, rock climbing, and navigation. The courses are held across England and Wales, and are run by experienced and qualified instructors. The costs of the courses are kept down due to a grant the BMC receives from Sport England.
How to Train Novice Members in your Club
This popular training event is aimed at experienced members affiliated clubs which accept novices and wish to support these members whilst they gain experience, develop skills, and become competent climbers, walkers and mountaineers in their own right.
The weekends include theory sessions on the principles of teaching and learning skills in the outdoors, issues around duty of care, insurance implications and good practice all delivered by experts in their field. The majority of the weekends are spent on practical skills. There is a weekend that includes options for teaching climbing, hill walking, scrambling and navigation skills, and a weekend on practical winter skills.
