YIPPEE FOR YARIS PULSE! NO. LIKE, REALLY SHOUT IT OUT: "YIPP-EE-E-E-E!" WASN’T THAT REFRESHING!?
That’s really the most relevant buzzword, after all, when it comes to the updated Yaris – refreshing. Toyota’s just refreshed this trusty favourite to the nth degree, courtesy of a wealth of rejuvenated features, thereby future- proofing the vehicle’s youthful appeal. And that’s fitting for June, which is Youth Month, wouldn’t you say?
IT’S A 2017 THING Millennials are woke. They’re tech-savvy
and have made their lives all about keeping up with the latest trends. They expect their vehicles to exhibit the same or similar amount of street cred as they do. They hustle hard for their dough and therefore expect excellent value packed into something that’s also easy on the eye. Enter the face-lifted Toyota Yaris – a
car you chose for its energy and style. It’s more connected than it’s ever been, it’s trendier and it’s grown up. It’s all the
car you need in one small package, with a design language that scythes through the three-box saloons and two-box hatchbacks running rife on your daily commute as clearly as its artist’s pen sliced through the metalwork of its profile, splitting it into a two-tone multimedia powerhouse, albeit with a compact B-segment footprint – a velvet glove.
BANG FOR YOUR BUCK With a declining economy and the
cost of living generally heading in the opposite direction of where we’d like it to go, everyone’s looking for good value. The Toyota Yaris is not only easy on the pocket, but comes packed with standard features. A leather-clad steering wheel and gear lever are now standard across the range, as are nice-to-have items such as electric windows and Toyota’s Touch Multimedia system that will keep smartphones, smart devices and smart people connected to the Bluetooth
system, as well as hands-free telephone functionality. But wait – there’s more. Other standard features include 15” alloy wheels, remote central locking, air-conditioning, electric mirrors, power steering, steering controls, dual front and side airbags and ABS with EBD and Brake Assist.
GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK There’s perhaps no generation more aware
of the environment than millennials. Those wanting to save the earth will be pleased that there’s a Yaris hybrid model as the range-topping pinnacle of the fleet, and it’s nothing short of a game-changer. Upgraded performance from that electrified four-cylinder 1,5-litre is a perk and a welcome by-product, but the fuel consumption figure takes centre stage with an impressive 3,6l/100km, which it manages while coughing a meagre 82g of CO2
per litre into the atmosphere. See? Woke!
