EICF 2022 – LIFETIME
ACHIEVEMENT’S AWARD Mr. Ronald Williams
T
he EICF Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals whose professional life is devoted
to the advancement and progress of Investment Casting. The last award was presented to Mr. Stephen Pilbury in 2018 in Porto. At the Conference in Santander, the 2022 Lifetime Achievement award was presented in a simple ceremony at the plenary session. The awardee was Mr. Ronald Williams from the Blayson Group. Ron Williams is a well-known professional and entrepreneur, who is internationally recognized with his company The Blayson Group globally operating. When Ron decided to step aside from his normal duties as Managing Director of Blayson allowing the next generation to take responsibilities, it was a natural selection for the EICF to express a recognition to his professional career and multiple contributions to the advance of the Investment Casting globally. The ceremony started with the projection of a video with images of Ron along his professional career
®
and personal life. As the images were being shown the voice of Ray Davies was singing “Thank you for the days. Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me….. “ what a nice way to express life´s appreciation. Following the video Mr. Stephen
Pilbury took the floor with the following words:
“Since the awards inception in 2016, this is only the third time it has been awarded, so it is with great honour and pleasure that I am here today to present the EICF Lifetime Achievement Award to Ron Williams on behalf of the EICF.
Though I don’t go back to the origins of his company (Blayson’s) in 1961. I first met Ron in 1971, when he and Derek Wynne visited the RRL Foundry at Crewe. I was a 19 year old graduate trainee chemist. Over the years I have known Ron
as a Supplier, Colleague, Competitor and I hope a friend. During Ron’s time at Blayson, his
vision has led to the development of a leading global business. Ron was the first to develop a manufacturing business in Japan to serve the Asian
Many of us will recall Ron presenting European and sometimes Asian market papers on a regular basis and technical papers enlightening and advancing our knowledge about precision investment casting waxes. I know we are all grateful for his input and wisdom over many years. In recent years two of his sons
Gavin and Matthew and his daughter Charlotte have become active in the business.
In 2021 Ron handed over the reins of the company to Gavin.
Ron and his lifetime companion
Brenda (who has also been a helping hand at many conference registration desks with Julie and Andrea) can spend more time together with family & friends outside the day to day activities of business life. We wish them both a long healthy
and happy time together. There are few today that can say that
they have dedicated their whole career to the PIC Industry Ron’s commitment is outstanding. Well done Ron it will be a hard act to follow. Unfortunately Ron cannot be with
us today so I welcome Keith Bachelor Operations Director at Blayson Olefines to accept the award on Ron’s behalf. The award was collected by Keith
Bachelor who express the appreciation of Ron in receiving this award whilst excusing his no attendance as Brenda and Ron had a relevant anniversary to
celebrate their 50th wedding
anniversary. Congratulations to Brenda and Ron!
