A General Annual Meeting in a Royal Palace T
he EICF 2022 General Annual Meeting took place last 15 of May at the Royal Palace of “La Magdalena”, former summer residence of the Kings of Spain. There was a significant historic reminiscence as the meeting took place at an historic room, “Comedor de Gala”, where many historical events have taken place. The general annual meeting is the meeting of the members and the EICF organization has continued to provide relevance and comprehensive information for the meeting to become as much
participative as possible.
Lessons learned during the pandemic led to implement the online voting system and the system has been maintained even this year with a presential GAM in order that members could vote in anticipation if they wish to do so. This was precisely oriented to facilitate this participation. The GAM started with a welcome as expressed by

the EICF Chairman who took the floor with the following words:
“Good afternoon and a warm welcome to all members present here in this wonderful and historical Palacio de la Magdalena here in Santander. It’s a privilege to chair this General Assembly. It’s the most relevant meeting of the Association where members are having the opportunity of reviewing the past and project the future in accordance with the needs of the Association objectives and the Investment Casting Industry requirements.
After the 2019 GAM in Helsinki,
this is our first General Assembly Meeting in presence after 2 years of confinement due to the pandemic outbreak of Covid 19 in March 2020. The pandemic had drastically
changed the way of our lives and business were being conducted. Our first reminder necessarily must be
with the families and persons severely affected by the pandemic, with losses of dear ones and with business impacts, affecting jobs and stability in their lives. Our upmost expression of solidarity with the families, business, and individuals. COVID is still not over and continues to affect our activities, but fortunately in a less dramatic way. The actual version seems to be less harmful and has permitted to reduce restrictions and made us decide to make this GAM in presence. What certainly nobody has predicted is, that again we would have a crise scenario due to the war in the Ukraine. This last year the industry has not only suffered the consequences due to the pandemic, but also due to the semiconductor crises, affecting several companies who work to the automotive industry.
