process depends on what type of power plant your aircraft uses. For piston aircraft, Concorde will prorate a battery for warranty up to 730 days or 1200 flight hours of opera- tion. For turbine-powered aircraft, Concorde will prorate up to 365 days or 600 flight hours. The prorated credit your distributor will receive is based off of Concorde’s assessment of the remaining life of the battery. When you purchase a Concorde battery, the first thing you should do is open the box and remove the “Concorde Warranty Claim Card.” Keep this card in the related airframe logbook or in a folder for future warranty considerations. If in the unlikely event that you need to do a warranty, this card will serve as your starting point. It you lose this card, your favorite distributor should be able to provide you with one. To process your Concorde warranty,
first remove the serial number sticker from the affected battery. Affix the sticker to your completed warranty card (make sure it is complete). Thirdly, make copies of the logbook entries of when the af- fected battery was installed and removed. This must be done within sixty days of the failure. Make copies of your paper- work as a backup, and then promptly send the original set of documents to your distributor. Your distributor will fax the warranty documents to Concorde. Then they will mail the original batter- ies to Concorde in the mail. Concorde will notify the distributor of their war- ranty evaluation. All of these steps must be completed in order, or you will not receive any type of credit whatsoever. Now, let’s discuss the warranty process
for Teledyne Gill batteries. Gill has two basic types of batteries. The flooded bat- teries generally have a letter “G” prefix. The “ES” series is sealed, and is being phased out for the newer 700 and 7000 series sealed batteries. The battery war- ranty for Gill batteries depends on the battery model, instead of what type of aircraft it is on. Most of the “G” and “ES” batteries carry a full warranty up to 12 months or 600 flight hours, whatever comes first. There is a prorated warranty up to 24 months or 1200 flight hours in addition to the full replacement war- ranty. There is a different warranty for the G200 series, G88 and G50 series batter- ies. Information for those warranties is included with the respective batteries. For Gill batteries, they have actually come up with a “battery logbook.” This trifold bro-
chure actually has a duplicate battery serial number sticker attached to it. Normally, this battery logbook is located in- side the battery’s shipping box. Whatever you do, don’t lose this valuable logbook. In the event that you need to apply for a Gill battery warranty, first locate your battery logbook. Call Teledyne Gill, and ask for the warranty department. The warranty department will issue you a warranty authoriza- tion number. This number must be written in the appropri- ate place on the bottom of your logbook form. Fill out all of the data, make yourself copies, and then forward to your distributor. Teledyne Gill will notify your distributor of the outcome of the warranty request.
