Our travel and tourism courses are becoming more popular. Students coming into Year 12 are interested in doing something they’ve never done before and they find the idea of travel and tourism appealing. We’re currently coming to the end of the BTEC Level 3 course; it’s going to be replaced in 2018. Until now a lot of emphasis has been focused on the last recession and its effects on travel and tourism. There’s now a shift towards the changes in security as dictated by terrorism across the world and, of course, the impact of Brexit. The industry is constantly evolving, but we keep abreast of the changes. Guest speakers and destination trips bring theory to life and subscribing to trade journals like Travel Weekly provides a brilliant snapshot of what’s going on.
