Helen Shaw guest experience manager Inghams





Before working for Inghams I studied fine art at university. My sister had just completed a ski season with our sister company Esprit and having skied from a young age I thought I might be able to do that too. I found Inghams jobs in chalets and chalet hotels and I did my first ski season in 2011 working as a chalet host in Zermatt, Switzerland. It was without a doubt the most fun and challenging six months of my life. I then moved into the chalet hotel side of the operation and progressed to hotel manager. In 2014 I came back to the UK to work at Inghams’ head office as a guest services executive. A year and a half later I moved into my current role as guest experience manager, helping our overseas teams create the best holiday experience for our guests. I love being able to use my experience working overseas to help others, and my skills have grown through every job I’ve had. Inghams has set me up for a continuing career in travel that I am really excited about.

I joined On the Beach by chance in 2005 after working for a small internet-based company. My first role was working in telephone sales and converting enquiries from our Teletext page. Following the launch of our website I moved to our online team as a booking agent and then onto a supervisory role. As the business expanded I started managing the after sales team on an interim basis and then managed our customer feedback team. However, I really wanted to get my teeth into something more technical so I moved into a new role, service operations manager, looking after services and systems. During this time I got into coding and in 2015 the business enrolled me on our Ruby Academy development programme. Since then I have been working as a developer and more recently I moved to a technical lead position, which is my eighth role at On the Beach! My hobby is now my job, and working with a great team in a fast-moving environment means you never get bored.
