Teamwork is a trait of the best trade-friendly suppliers

Jet2holidays unveiled an agent-facing Learn portal

in March with training on specific hotels and tips on marketing, while Classic Collection rolled out an online booking site for single-centre holidays. It’s not only operators that have been keen to get in on

the agent act – long-running West End production Wicked created Wicked Direct, a trade portal for agents to make bookings for the show and associated experiences around London, while door-to-door luggage delivery service Sherpr launched its first trade division in August.

SALES AND MARKETING TOOLS

Trade-only supplier Major Travel rolled out a marketing platform, Major4Agents, in February, helping agents create bespoke landing pages without any directly linked supplier websites. It followed this in July with a mobile portal to facilitate bookings on the move – including Jet2. com and easyJet flights – and to make it easier to share offers on social media. Vertical Travel Group also sought to make life easier

for agents with a new pay-by-link payments system, VSL Pay, that lets agents send clients a secure link by text, email or messaging service. As well as bookable portals, many suppliers sought

to improve trade resources to support frontline partners. They ranged from print and digital publications, including Inghams’ guide to selling ski; Simpson Travel’s new agent brochure, released in February, with a view to doubling trade sales in 2022; and Serenity Holidays’ new agent-only digital flipbooks. Atas (the Association of Touring & Adventure

Suppliers) set up a page to help agents find trade-friendly alternatives to Saga tours after the over-50s specialist

Which suppliers offer the most user-friendly trade portals?

scaled back its trade relationships. Meanwhile touring and adventure aggregator TourHound added a Tour Price Tracker tool, enabling agents to keep an eye on daily price changes from up to 50 tour operators. Also in the touring sector, Newmarket Holidays added

downloadable resources, ready-made tour itineraries for clients and social media images to its agent portal, while G Adventures used online platform Heygo to host live virtual tours of key destinations, supporting its charitable foundation, Planeterra.
