here was a touch of Hollywood about this year’s Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards with

star host Richard E Grant handing out the prestigious trophies. The actor, who earned an Oscar

nomination for his role in the 2018 film Can You Ever Forgive Me? and whose other credits include Withnail and I, Spice World and Star Wars, handed out awards in 32 categories after sharing stories about A-list celebrities and Donald Trump. Entertainment included Blue

and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who wowed crowds at the biggest night of the travel industry calendar, courtesy of sponsors Carnival Cruise Line and Kuoni. Blue kicked off the event in style,

performing hit singles All Rise and One Love to a packed dancefloor, while Ellis-Bextor sang her classics Murder on the Dancefloor and Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love). Entertainment also included a

traditional Chinese display courtesy of Wendy Wu Tours, which gave away four cruises on new river vessel Victoria Mekong.

Presented by Luxury line Silversea Cruises

gave seven finalist agents the chance to be the ‘first person on the Moon’, concluding a two-month incentive for agents who’d made bookings for forthcoming ship Silver Moon to join its inaugural sailing in August. Cosmos, which sponsored host

Richard E Grant, was among the prize winners itself as it bagged a £250,000 advertising campaign from the event’s consumer media partner Hearst. It was the culmination of the

Destination Hearst competition, launched in November, which was

looking for the brand that best articulated how it could creatively collaborate with the publisher’s titles, which include Good Housekeeping, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire, Red, Cosmopolitan and Elle. Jet2holidays and Jet2.com were

once again the big winners at the Globe Travel Awards, scooping three awards. Jet2holidays won Best Trade- Friendly Brand and Best Short-Haul Operator, while Jet2.com took home the Best Short-Haul Airline accolade. Kuoni, APT, Gold Medal and

Emirates each won two gongs. Kuoni In partnership with Part of Jacobs Media Group
