If you thought Tinder was all about finding that perfect someone, think again. An InteleTravel member has taken to the popular matchmaking app to source new recruits. One high street travel agent
‘matched’ with a 39-year-old called Wayne who described himself as an ‘entrepreneur’ for InteleTravel and was seeking to get others to join the group. On his profile, Wayne described
himself as a “busy entrepreneur looking to share an opportunity with anyone who wants to make an extra income in the travel industry, along with all the perks that travel agents receive, as you’d be working as an independent travel agent”. His profile also read: “Money
doesn’t make you happy, but being around people who want to be successful does, and money is a bonus. And if I meet ‘the one’ along the way, then happy days…”

The important element is identifying the individual, regardless of the point of origin
Last year, TV personality Mario InteleTravel, which has operated
in the US since 1991, has come under criticism in the UK, but gained membership of Abta last March and has more than 2,500 agents. Some industry leaders have
criticised the model, which includes a separate recruitment arm called PlanNet Marketing where recruiters earn money to sign up others. InteleTravel has continually
rejected claims it operates as a multi-level marketing business, because PlanNet is a separate entity. Agents can join both organisations.
Falcone, best known for The Only Way is Essex, was criticised for using his social media accounts to recruit others to InteleTravel. Travel agents took a swipe at
Wayne’s post on Travel Gossip’s Facebook page, which has barred InteleTravel agents, after his post was shared on the site. An InteleTravel spokeswoman
praised Wayne’s entrepreneurship, and said: “If you are looking for new entrants, and are passionate about selling travel, then the important element is identifying the individual, regardless of the point of origin”.
