Welcome to my new column! Hopefully you’ve been following ‘Where’s Wendy’ in Travel Weekly (although she’s been too busy to get out much yet this year!). We thought it might be fun to talk about luxury cruising and discuss tips to grow your business to help you in your Quest for more luxury clients, to retain (Encore) guests and Venture further into this lucrative market! So how did I end up as UK head of one of the world’s
ultra-luxury lifestyle brands? It’s still a surprise to me, although I guess I have worked long and hard to get where I am today, and I have an amazing husband, Paul, who has backed me from day one. We know that luxury travellers are looking for good
value and exceptional service. They expect expert, luxury travel advisors to curate their travel plans, with the reassurance that their holiday will be perfect and meet their high expectations. But above all, they love the recognition that someone cares about them. Luxury is how you feel and are treated, not necessarily the price you pay. A great example of this was when I visited my local Starbucks, in Southampton, after having been in Seattle for a week. The barista smiled and asked: ‘Haven’t seen you for a while; it’s a chai tea latte, isn’t it?’ That personal greeting gave me a fuzzy feeling, and this is the experience our guests enjoy with the teams on our ships – a personal greeting, remembering your favourite drink, starter or dessert, and so on. The past few weeks have been so challenging with coronavirus. At times like this, it is the way we have all dealt with the situation, and made our guests as comfortable and valued as we can, that makes all the difference.
Travelmarvel adds Capella and Vega to 2021 brochure

APT features two upcoming new ships in its 2021 Europe & Russia River Cruising brochure. Travelmarvel Capella and
Travelmarvel Vega will launch next year as part of APT-owned sister brand Travelmarvel. The Contemporary-class
vessels will sail on the Rhine, Main and Danube. Travelmarvel’s ‘essential
collection’ is targeted at customers in the premium market, while APT is aimed at the luxury sector. The Travelmarvel ships will
feature a rooftop bar, terrace garden, whirlpool, lounge, restaurant and casual dining area, and a bar called McGeary’s. Prices for the 15-day European
Gems Essential River Cruise, departing Budapest, Hungary, on March 15, 2021, start from £1,995. Ports of call include Vienna, Austria, and Passau and Nuremberg, both Germany. Four more cruises along the
lower stretch of the Danube – one luxury cruise on AmaMagna and three Essential Best of Balkans sailings on Capella or Vega – have also been introduced.

Carnival Cruise Line has bolstered its 2021 European deployment with three departures from Barcelona on Carnival Magic. The 3,690-passenger ship will
move to Europe with a 14-day transatlantic sailing from Miami on March 13 before entering a

two-week stint in dry dock. Its seven or eight-day
Barcelona sailings depart on April 10, April 18 and April 25. Ports of call include Livorno,
Rome, Naples and Messina, all Italy. Prices for the voyage on April 10, 2021, lead in at $719. Carnival Magic will return
