Variety to deploy ship in Tahiti for first time
Variety Cruises will deploy a ship in Tahiti for the first time next year. The line’s 49-passenger Panorama II will offer seven- night sailings to the Society Islands (from £1,773) and 11-night cruises calling at the Society Islands and the Tuamotu Islands (from £2,500) from December 2020 to March 2021.

Travel 2 bolsters Cruise Plus with Virgin and A-Rosa sailings

Travel 2’s Cruise Plus arm has added a collection of luxury, river and expedition sailings to its programme. The expanded brochure, for 2020-2022, features 22
lines, including Virgin Voyages and A-Rosa River Cruises for the first time. New for 2020 is the launch of ex-UK round-
trip sailings from lines such as P&O Cruises and Disney Cruise Lines. Sailings are combined with regional flights to Southampton or train travel, and pre or post-cruise accommodation. The range of Cruise and Stay Journeys, which match
operators’ tours with cruises, has been expanded. Agents can match up cruises with tours from Travel 2’s Incredible Journeys range, including trips to Machu Picchu and India’s Golden Triangle. Rail tours featuring services such as Rocky
Mountaineer, Eastern & Oriental Express, Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and the Indian Pacific have

also been added to the Cruise and Stay Journeys range. Cruise Plus by Travel 2’s luxury and ultra-luxury sales
have risen by almost 55% in the past 12 months, with river cruise sales up 24% and expedition sales up 73%. A 21-night Machu Picchu, Caribbean & South America Explorer itinerary, featuring a 15-night cruise on Silversea’s Silver Moon, starts at £7,669, flying from Heathrow on November 20, 2020. Mark Henderson, Travel 2’s senior product and commercial manager for specialist product, said: “There is huge pent-up demand for more
exclusive and specialist cruise product.” Cruise Plus by Travel 2 hopes to expand its fam trip
programme for 2020. Its 2019 FAMtoSEA programme was its biggest-ever, with 40 agents joining fams. To celebrate the brochure launch, two agents will win
personalised bathrobes and slippers. Make a booking of four nights or more on any itinerary in the brochure, with return flights, by January 6 to enter the draw.

Emerald Waterways has put three 2020 Christmas market cruises on sale. The sailings are the 15-day Christmas Markets of Europe, which calls at 17 markets (from £3,220); eight-day Christmas Markets on the Rhine, taking in nine markets (from £1,370); and eight- day Christmas Markets on the Danube (from £1,470).

Cunard to host Michel Roux Jr on QM2 for inaugural food festival
Celebrity chef Michel Roux Jr is to participate in the first food and wine festival on board Cunard flagship Queen Mary 2. The chef patron of London’s Michelin- starred Le Gavroche will host dinners in The Verandah restaurant and the Britannia Grill, and a Q&A session, on the transatlantic crossing on June 7-14, 2020.
