The Marvel Summer of Super Heroes is taking over Walt Disney Studios until September, as part of Disneyland Paris’s 25th anniversary celebrations. Sarah Barnes from Moorelands Travel in Kinross won a competition with Travel Weekly and was one of 140 travel agents among the first to experience this super hero takeover.
Who’d have thought after boarding a train at London St Pancras, I would see my universe transform as we travelled through the Channel Tunnel and popped right out at the Disneyland Paris gates? There wasn’t much time to think about settling into my room at Disney’s Newport Bay Club, as grand as it was. I was off to meet Mickey Mouse himself for a hoedown at Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show with Mickey and Friends. Off I skipped to Disney Village all ready for the biggest Disney dining show in Europe. Mickey and his friends never fail to impress and after a cheeky feast for the cowboy or cowgirl in all of us, and a peace settling between the Cowboys and Indians, it was time to head off to the parks for our first night. I’d been to Disneyland Paris
before, but it looked just as fantastic as I remember and felt just as exciting as my first visit. After familiarising myself with the layout of the park we headed over to watch what can only be described as the most

spectacular show in the world – Disney Illuminations. The tone was set from the moment we heard the classic Disney tune, A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes. It’s a song that brings out the inner child in everyone, bringing the magic spirit inside you to life. One by one, all my favourite
Disney characters joined the party and before long the crowds were singing and dancing. The whole sky lit up as we sang along to top Disney hits such as Frozen’s Let It Go and Beauty and the Beast’s Tale As Old As Time. Our second day was set to
be just as adventurous and the moment I walked through the gates of the Marvel-lous Walt Disney Studios Park, my spider senses were tingling with excitement. This was the day that we would see the full spectacle that is this season’s Marvel Summer of Super Heroes. No visit would be complete without viewing the new show – Marvel: Super Heroes United. As I walked through the gates of the Walt Disney Studios Park, my spider senses were tingling
the story was brought to life spectacularly with each character revealing their backgrounds. In true Marvel style, the special effects gave a real wow factor especially when the projections reflected around the whole room. Studio theatre is where to go to see all the super heroes in one place. Top tip! Don’t forget to pop
over to Production Courtyard to see the live show, Stark Expo presents: Energy for Tomorrow! where Spider-Man joins forces with Black Widow and Thor. The Marvel theme continues
around the Walt Disney Studios, where you’re greeted by striking statues of the Hulk, Iron Man and Black Panther, the ideal backdrop for a selfie!
The restaurants join in with the Marvel theme, offering superhero meals and treats – be sure to try a spider web burger with its big fluffy red bun!
In the words of Red Skull and Nick Fury, I believe that ‘We have left humanity behind’ and ‘until such time as the world ends’ I’ll be sure to always remember this trip of a lifetime. I learnt things I thought I already knew and look forward to relaying all my Disney knowledge and making my customers’ dreams come true.
