Dubai adds Hunger Games attractions

Amie Keeley and Juliet Dennis

Dubai Parks and Resorts has added attractions inspired by science fiction series The Hunger Games including a replica movie set and exclusive video content.

The World of the Hunger Games includes two attractions recreating the fantastical world of Panem, a live entertainment street show and a themed shop and cafe. The attractions are a Capitol

Bullet Train half-pipe rollercoaster

and a Panem Aerial Tour on a hovercraft. Peeta’s Bakery, inspired by Peeta

Mellark, one of the movies’ main characters, offers themed food and drink, while the live show features percussion from District 12’s coal miners using their work tools to create a music show. The attractions complete the

park’s Lionsgate Zone, one of five zones at the Hollywood-inspired Motiongate Dubai park. Lisa Goswell, Dubai Parks and

Resorts’ international market development director, said the

Capitol Bullet Train coaster at Motiongate Dubai

park would target the UK market on a large scale in 2018. She revealed a partnership with Gold Medal to launch early next year would see a number of family holidays given away to agents. The park also plans to host

agent fam trips in 2018 and run numerous other trade incentives. “We’re going to be giving agents

as many opportunities to see the park first hand as possible,”

Goswell said. “2018 is going to be a big year for the UK.” She said a consumer campaign

would run alongside trade activity to publicise that the park was fully open for business. “The UK market is the most theme-park savvy and they won’t pay money until it’s fully open. There is a big push now for us

moving forward,” Goswell added. dubaiparksandresorts.com
