Sri Lanka’s Uga Escapes revives expansion plans


Sri Lankan hotel brand Uga Escapes is resuming plans to increase its room stock by about 60% by the end of 2022. Plans to open properties


in Haton, in the hills of the Bogawantalawa tea estate, and in the cultural triangle near Sigiriya, were put on hold following the Easter Sunday atacks in Sri Lanka, but Uga Escapes managing director Priyanjith Weerasooria confirmed they are back on track. He said: “We hope to start on


the first project [Haton] this year. We’re planning more than 100 new rooms.”
