CASA COOK: The Chania property is due to open next summer The seven new Cook’s Club
hotels include a managed hotel in Palma, Majorca, currently a Smartline hotel, two franchised hotels in Turkey, two in Greece, one in Italy and one in The Gambia, due to open for winter 2019. The company plans three
more Cook’s Club properties, in Bulgaria, Egypt and Greece. Six properties will be added to Sentido, Cook’s largest own-brand portfolio, taking the number of Sentido hotels to 70. They include a 184-room property in Majorca.
Four of the new hotels will be
branded SunConnect, Cook’s other family-focused brand, taking the total to 20 in Europe and North Africa. A 120-room Sunprime hotel called Tamala Beach is also due to open in The Gambia in winter 2019. Aldiana, the club resort
brand in which Cook now owns 42% following an investment last year, will open a property in Ampflwang, Austria, plus a
new-build venue in Calabria.

Avani’s Koh Samui property offers rooms and villas for ‘relaxation’
Avani is to open a beachfront hotel in Koh Samui, Thailand, next month. Avani+Koh Samui, set within
Pang Kha Bay and overlooking the Five Islands, will have 58 rooms and villas designed to facilitate relaxation. Rooms will be in the middle of tropical gardens and have balconies overlooking the beach. The villas will offer private plunge pools. All guests have access to a gym and spa, yoga classes, kayaking trips and hikes. Meals will have a focus on local and sustainably sourced food, including freshly caught fish. Avani said the property would
offer guests access to Ang Thong National Marine Park and the chance to snorkel in Koh Madsum

and see the coral reefs of Koh Taen. The Thai hotel is a 40-minute
drive from Samui airport, to where there are daily flights from Bangkok, other Thai cities, and direct flights from around Asia. Deluxe rooms start at £70 per
night, villas from £120.
