Digital brochures boost Cruising Excursions’ sales

Hary Kemble harry.kemble@travelweekly.co.uk

Cruising Excursions has boosted business through the trade by almost a quarter after introducing a sales tool to help agents create personalised digital brochures for customers.

The tool, available on the shore

excursion specialist’s website, builds a PDF brochure, containing

prices and tour options for each port of call on a sailing, for agents to show customers. To create an online

brochure, agents must log on to cruisingexcursions.com, choose the ‘Create PDF’ option and enter the customer’s cruise line, ship, date of departure and duration. Once the personalised shore

excursion brochure has been created, agents have the option to email it to customers.

WIMBLETON: ‘We’re always looking for more agent partners’

Through Cruising Excursions,

which launched in 2011, agents can access about 12,000 excursions at more than 700 ports worldwide. Agents using the tool can also

offer Port Package ‘value’ deals when booking between three and nine excursions at the same time. Cruising Excursions chairman

John Wimbleton credited the PDF brochure tool with increasing agents’ share of the company’s business from 45% to 55% since its launch in April. Currently, around 1,000 PDF

brochures are being created for customers each week. Wimbleton aims to grow sales

by between 10% and 20% next year. “We are always looking for more agent partners,” he said. Statistically, the best time to sell

a customer an excursion is eight to 10 weeks before their sailing’s departure, Wimbleton said. Cruising Excursions sells about 140,000 excursions a year, with agents earning 16% commission

on each booking. cruisingexcursions.com
