Premier promotes Canada in winter

Juliet Dennis juliet.dennis@travelweekly.co.uk

Premier Holidays is offering ski packages in Canada for the first time alongside new winter activities for 2019.

The operator’s new 2019 Canada brochure includes 15 new hotels and six tours in a bid to push breaks to Canada out of season. It follows a 21% increase in bookings year on year for 2018. Ski packages are available in Whistler, Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise and Tremblant. Packages start at £229 for seven days’ ski hire at Whistler, not including flights and accommodation.

New winter activities include ice climbing, from £167; a medicine trail snowshoe tour, from £59; helicopter dog-sledding in Mont Tremblant, from £291; and sleigh rides in Banff, from £27. More space has been given to promote self-drive holidays,

offering cars and motorhomes. New self-drive tours include the

14-night Totem Peaks independent tour of Western Canada, from £2,399; seven-night Wonders of Alaska self-drive, from £2,249; and nine-night In The Footsteps of Yukon Pioneers tours, from £1,799.

Also new is a nine-night Rocky Mountaineer Canadian Rockies Circle rail and coach tour, from £3,849, and a Glacier Bay National Park cruise, from £3,899. Tim Greathead, Canada product manager, said: “We’ve experienced huge demand for Canada this year and there is increasingly less availability for popular periods such as spring and summer.” To mark the launch, agents can win an ice-skating trip with a Fortnum & Mason champagne and chocolate experience for two in London. Runners-up receive a Canadian hamper. To enter the draw, go to the website to answer
