OPERATOR NEWS YOU CAN USE

Explore offers supplement-free trips

Juliet Dennis juliet.dennis@travelweekly.co.uk

Explore has scrapped single supplements on 60 trips booked before July 2 to drive more sales from mature, solo travellers.

The operator is urging agents

to capitalise on demand in the singles market after a survey it commissioned revealed 70% of over-50s admit to making excuses for not travelling and taking a trip of a lifetime. The findings, from a OnePoll

survey of 1,000 British consumers over the age of 50, also showed 75% identified meeting new people as their biggest fear of travelling

alone, while post-trip many said being in a group meant they felt safe and had a more enjoyable trip. The operator has introduced the

savings after enjoying three years of growth in solo travel bookings. Scrapping single supplements

can save clients up to £975. The promotion applies to small-group
