The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Jet2: We have no interest in Thomas Cook shops
In response to Miles Morgan’s Comment (Travel Weekly, June 27), we would like to confirm that
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have no interest in either Thomas Cook’s airline or Thomas Cook’s retail business. Through our successful package holiday business, Jet2holidays, we have developed fantastic
relationships with independent travel agents, who are an integral part of our long-term distribution strategy. Our whole approach to working with these agents is based on a partnership model, so that we can support them to increase sales and grow their businesses. We are absolutely committed to this partnership approach, which is why we have no plans or need to purchase any Thomas Cook shops or open our own. Our focus is on continuing to support agents through a range of initiatives such as joint marketing
activity, taking agents out into their communities, sponsoring industry events, delivering our ‘Earn Your Wings’ training programme, running VIP fam trips and hosting our annual VIP Travel Agent Conference. Steve Heapy, chief executive,
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays
Brexit: EU graduate drop is taste of what’s to come
Story: No-deal Brexit would be ‘catastrophe’ for travel The principal concern is staff shortages. Those of us in UK hospitality have seen the availability of highly educated EU staff reduce significantly since the Brexit vote as they have chosen to go elsewhere. It is probably a foretaste of the new lower status we as a nation can expect if we leave the EU without a deal! Paul Sawbridge
Travel House, Ammanford, Wales travelhouseammanford Ammanford ladies all ready to welcome you aboard our cruise day! We’re ready and waiting to see you! #travelhouseammanford #cruises #cruiseday
Story: Thomas Cook relaunches Airtours brand to focus on dynamic packages Steve Dunne @stevedunne (Digital Drums) Can you relaunch a brand as something completely new? Will it confuse the consumer? @TuiUK repositioned @FirstChoiceUK as all-inclusive. Be interesting to see how this turns out.
