Q. Holiday Extras is one of the headline sponsors of this year’s Agent Achievement Awards. What makes this event stand out for you? A. The Agent Achievement Awards is very special to us, which is why we are excited to be a headline sponsor. Our agents, homeworkers and call centre teams are at the core of what we do. Being able to celebrate their own individual successes is one of our calendar highlights.
With just one week to go until the trade’s biggest night of the year, James Lewis talks about why the awards are so special to Holiday Extras
Q. The AAAs are the biggest travel agent awards in the UK. What have you been doing this year to improve your relationship with the trade? A. We’ve worked hard to make our training more memorable. We’ve introduced the Holiday Extras Toolkit (HXTK) to give them the tools, knowledge and confidence they need to improve their focus and conversion. We have managed to cover most of the UK at different trade events, which has given us more exposure to agents. We have also revolutionised the way we hold shop visits, replacing a blitz mentality with prearranged thee-hour sessions. We deliver our improved training, spending time “back to the floor” to support agents in selling our products.
Q.Why are agents so important to your business? A. Agents, homeworkers and call centre teams are at the very heart of Holiday Extras and have been since day one. They have been central to the development of our newest and fastest- growing products such as airport fast track and overseas transfers. These new products came as a result of their feedback and wanting a one-stop- shop for their customers’ needs. We recognise some agents are becoming more specialist, focusing on sectors such as luxury, cruise and touring, and as a result we are working on a new innovation, which will be launching soon.
Q. This year we have some new categories. Which are you most excited about? A. It’s fantastic to see new categories! It’s difficult to single out one category. The expansion of the awards into the digital world and having “ones to watch" certainly reflects and highlights how much success there is to be celebrated.
Q.What’s been the big news at your company in the last year? A. The most exciting thing we have done was launching our Reward and Recognition programme. Travel Heroes sees us say thank
