TruTravels to raise profile among trade with first fam trip
Juliet Dennis
G Adventures-owned TruTravels is aiming to increase its profile in the trade and is planning to run its first agent-only fam trip. Te backpacker specialist,
which was bought by G Adventures last December, sells ground-only tours and focuses on the 18 to 25-year-old market. About 60% of the company’s
sales are from agents, with STA Travel its main trade partner. Te brand is
due to appear on G Adventures’ Sherpa booking system from the end of September, which will mean agents will be able to search its holidays online in the same way as existing G Adventures trips. Te acquisition has accelerated
the company’s growth plans and will help it to expand its distribution reach in the trade, according to Charlie
travelweekly.co.uk
Ransom, the company’s ‘general manager of good vibes’. Ransom said: “We are open
to conversations with agents and working on strengthening our relationships with trade partners. “We will be launching [tours to] a
new continent at the end of August, which was in our two to three-year plan, but has been fast-forwarded because of our acquisition.” TruTravels plans to run its first
agent-only fam trip in the next 12 months. Previously, agents have joined existing tours. Te company offers
holidays of eight to 27 days for the same price year round and
does not offer flights. All accommodation, transport,
excursions, a guide and some meals are included in the price. Tour sizes are up to 20 and holidaymakers can be any age, although tend to be between 18 and 25. Its most popular tour is the 10-day Bali
Experience, which costs £540.
