RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL
Specialist operator Pelorus achieves B Corp certification
Experiential tour operator Pelorus has been certified as a B Corporation. The company, which specialises
in high-end, tailor-made holidays, received the certification following a review of its operations across five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. Pelorus had to provide evidence of
responsible practices related to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency, and legally embed its commitment to purpose and profit in its company articles. The travel specialist has joined a
growing number of tour operators and more
than 8,000 businesses globally that have the certification. It comes less than a year after the operator’s partnership with sustainable aviation fuel producer Neste, supported by its launch of Pelorus Aviation, which allows clients to buy sustainable aviation fuel. The company also contributes to the
Pelorus Foundation Climate Investment Fund, which has supported projects such as agroforestry in Indonesia and mangrove restoration in Kenya. Co-founder Geordie Mackay-Lewis said:
“We are extremely humbled to be a B Corp- certified business, a huge milestone in our mission to create life-enriching experiences rooted in meaning and purpose.”
