Wilderness Safaris rebrands to better reflect its aspirations
Virgin adds to Caribbean portfolio
Virgin Atlantic will offer services to Turks and Caicos and the Maldives in 2023. A year-round twice-weekly Heathrow service to Turks and Caicos will begin on November 15, 2023, with tickets on sale from January 11, 2023. This new destination is the latest addition to Virgin’s Caribbean portfolio, on the back of new flights to the Bahamas in December 2021, St Vincent and the Grenadines in October 2021 and a return to Saint Lucia. The Maldives service will start on October 22, 2023, operating three times a week from Heathrow during the winter season. Tickets go on sale on November 30.

Luxury Africa specialist Wilderness Safaris has shortened its name as it eyes global expansion. The company, which comprises more than 60 camps
in eight countries and has more than 3,000 employees, is now known as Wilderness. Chief marketing officer Simone Strahle said the company had dropped ‘Safaris’ from its name to “truly encompass who we are and what we really do: increasing the world’s wilderness”. A new logo has been created alongside a refreshed website aiming to move away from Wilderness’s safari focus and reflect the brand’s “wild places and extraordinary journeys”. Chief executive Keith Vincent said the aim was to “double the amount of land [Wilderness] helps conserve by 2030”, which would involve taking the brand “beyond Africa’s borders”.
