THE INDUSTRIAL GASES FIRM MESSER GROUP PLANS TO BUILD A NEW AIR SEPARATION FACILITY IN VILA-SECA, Spain. The gas plant will cost more than €35 million and be capable of producing 2,400 tons of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon per day. It will also gain certification for the production of medical gases and will be connected to its pipeline network to serve Tarragona’s growing chemical industry, as well as manufacturing firms throughout the region, according to powderbulksolids.com. The company expects to commission the site in December 2021 and 20 new jobs are expected to be created with its opening. Stefan Messer, owner and CEO said the investment ensures “a reliable and flexible supply of our customers and, at the same time, optimising our processes by using the most advanced technology”. Braskem, the largest polyolefins producer in the US and a global leader in the production of biopolymers, announced the launch of commercial production at its new polypropylene production line located in LaPorte, Texas. The new line has a production capacity of over 450 kilotons (kt) or one billion pounds a year and has the capability to produce the entire polypropylene portfolio, including products such as homopolymer, impact copolymer and random copolymers, says Processing Magazine. Construction began in 2017 with the final phase of mechanical construction completed in June 2020. The launch of commercial production follows the successful


completion of the commissioning process as well as the achievement of Braskem’s high product quality assurance protocols. Two major rupture disc manufacturers, Oseco and Elfab, have joined forces to capitalise on their joint strengths, offering turnkey pressure relief solutions and services worldwide, said BulkInside.
