Hi there, my name is Mia!
It’s been so long since I wrote I thought I better re-introduce myself again. I’m mortified, to be honest. I was supposed to write something every two or three nights and here I am – three weeks later – only getting back to you. But I’m here now and that’s all that matters, right? By the way, where did I get 53 followers from??? And me not even writing! So, whoever you are, thanks for following. I won’t be as long writing from now on, I promise.
If I’m to be honest, school has consumed my life! And, if I’m to be really honest, it has been a tough few weeks. I don’t think I told you, but I made a good few new friends since starting. I kind of knew some of the girls through football, but I’ve really gotten to know some of them really well in the last while and it has been great! Well, it started off great. Let me elucidate …
One of my friends from Sixth Class (I’m not going to say who – that wouldn’t be fair) called me over one day in the yard. I skipped over – nearly got a belt of a sliotar on the way – wondering what she wanted.
She suddenly starts with ‘Don’t start thinking you’re great with your new friends, Mia! You shouldn’t forget your old ones.’
I started laughing – I was sure she was joking. She wasn’t! Two of my other friends, also from my school, turned away – they wouldn’t even look at me.
‘What? What do you mean?’ I asked. ‘You know well!’ she said and turned to walk away.
I was so shocked. But the worst thing of all – even though I had done NOTHING wrong – I started to well up. I was about to burst into tears. For what?? They stormed off (thank God) before they could see me about to start crying and I stood in one spot for ages, like I had just gotten hit by a bus … or that sliotar! This came out of nowhere.
Anyway, I said it to my Mum that evening and, just like Mum, she told me not to worry. Maybe she was missing hanging around with me. I had never stopped hanging around with her, by the way! Mum also suggested I chat to her – on our own – and ask her to explain why she would say that. I did that and, even though she kind of took it back, I spent the next two weeks worrying about who I hang around with and how to keep everyone happy. She said she didn’t mean what she said, but I’m taking that with a pinch of salt. I mean, do you ever say such a thing without thinking it?
In the last few days, things have gotten a little better though. Thanks for listening Team 53!
